Ed had a very favorable influence on my life. I often was impressed with him - from my first 7th grade shop classes to his coaching on the gridiron and pep talks in pre-game assemblies at Penn High. Often he was good at out thinking the opposition. Farewell to a great man.

Coach Snyder was my football coach at GHS. He was amazingly successful; taking undersized teams to victories over much larger schools with bigger, faster players. More importantly, Ed respected all his players and always treated us as men. I have had many coaches, some good some bad, but for me, Coach Snyder is the standard by which the others are judged.

I admired him more than anyone I ever met at GHS. He always treated me with respect even as a manager for the football team. I will never forget how good he made me feel at the awards assembly in my Junior year. When the letter ceremony began the first people he gave praise to were the Managers. He had nice things to say about us and how important we were to the team. He brought us on stage first to get our letters. That was amazing. I loved his no nonsense approach to football and life. But he was as kind, humble and soft spoken a person as anyone. Not enough people in this world like Ed Snyder. What a great man. He will be missed. Steve Galus GHS Class of 1969

Ed's been in my life in many ways -- as the principal who straightened me out in junior high, a leading member of our church, and a friendly face to visit along with my mother at St. Paul's Alzheimer's unit. Always a smile and friendly greeting.

How much more wonderful this world would be if everyone tried to emulate how Ed lived his much too brief life on earth. His contributions to society are countless and this community was so blessed to have him make his home here. He will truely be missed by many.

I owe a lot to this man for a very satisfying life long hobby. I have filled our home and those of our three children with furniture that I have made over the past 50 years from the skills in woodworking that I learned from Ed Snyder. He was a great teacher. My heart and prayers go to all of Grandpa's family. He will always be remembered by me as one of the family welcoming committee whenever I came to town. I cherish the wooden box that he made for Jennifer's wedding. I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing for all of you.

One of the memories of Uncle Ed that I will always hold dear was the summer holidays that Jan and I spent with Uncle Ed and Aunt Mary in Greenville when we were young. I am grateful for beautiful wood items that he made in his wood shop and shared with us. He was a wonderful man that will be missed and remembered with love. Mike, Lori and Drew McDermott

I lived at St. Pauls Childrens Home in the mid 60's when Mr. Snyder was principal at Penn Jr. High. I knew him by his first name "SIR" and he knew me as Tom. I unfortunately visited him way too many times in his office for a paddleing but he always said at the end of the session" this didn't hurt me a bit" then "affectionately" slapped my butt on the way out the door - with his grin. As I remember as a 12/13/14 yr. old kid at that time, he was a neat guy. My condolences go out to his family
